Screencast Showing tac_lite (and devel_node_access) in Action

This screencast shows how to configure the tac_lite module. It also shows the devel_node_access module, which is useful when using any access control in Drupal.
To fully appreciate this video, you should be an experienced Drupal administrator who knows how to create pages, vocabularies, users and roles.
In this example, we set up a sports site in which users are either players or managers. We want to post content that only players can view, and also content that only managers can view. Furthermore, we want some content visible only to members of a particular team.
Recently updated to fix color problems of the original, also increased compression to make the file smaller.

At youtube resolutions, most of the video would be illegible. It's tough to fit a screen capture into that little space.

Not at the moment. Once drupal 5 is officially released, I hope to quickly support it. Right now I'm not developing any drupal 5 sites, so I don't have the need myself. If someone steps up and submits a patch to drupal.org I would apply it.

How this works in Drupal 5.x?

Unfortunately after downloading drupal 5.x I just spent a bunch of time trying to get tac_lite working...then read the comments and it sounds like you don't support 5.x! I did download a version of tac_lite for 5.x but can't figure out at all how it works. How to set up categories is very unclear, and then I can't figure out how to assign categories to particular pages. I would like to keep visitors out of a certain subdirectory of my site. Seems like it should be a pretty simple problem solved using .htaccess, but I'm at a loss here since there don't seem to be any subdirectories in drupal!

Yes, works in 5.x

There is a version for 5.x, which to the best of my knowledge is working. I recommend you spend a bit of time reading the drupal.org forums. Spend some time administering the core drupal modules, like the taxonomy module (AKA categories). When you have the hang of that, you'll find tac_lite pretty easy. The drupal administration pages can be a bit of a maze.
You can make drupal's URLs more directory-like, but for this purpose I don't recommend it. In drupal, content can appear on several different pages. You can't build your security assuming a page can only be reached via a single URL.

Hiding the "welomce" screen for authenticated users
